"Walk The Red Carpet" 1/25/12 Luncheon and Fashion Show 190 University Park Women's Club members and their guests had an opportunity to "Walk The Red Carpet" at our annual January general meeting, lunch and fashion show which was held at Michael's On East Restaurant. A check for $16,000 was presented to the Food Bank of Manatee. Baby Food Drive and Holiday Luncheon 12/2/11 Ann Nellis and Kris Higgerson with generous donations Diamond and Crystal Charity Ball 2011 The 7th annual Diamond and Crystal Charity Ball was held on December 10th with all proceeds to benefit the Food Bank of Manatee County. This year the theme was "Fire and Ice", a mix of "Hot and Cold". Committee members (Deborah VanBrunt, Mary Bennett, Beckie Suverkrup, Elaine Kulbako, Pam Yulke, Patti Doench, Nancy Kopnisky, Cheryl Kleiman and Linda Boles) can now "Chill" after working "Feverishly" for months to make this "An Affair to Remember". Back Stage Tour of Van Wezel Over 60 members were guided through halls and stairways to get a close up view of the many works of art on display. Expert volunteers explained the complicated mechanisms of lighting , sound systems and back drops. Everyone had an opportunity to "Enter and Exit"," Stage Left and Right." Our tour continued with a glimpse of the "Star Dressing Room", "Green Room" "Wardrobe" "VIP Lounge" and stories along the way of life behind the scenes. General Meeting & Luncheon October 12, 2011 University Park Women's Club celebrated the arts at the season's opening luncheon and general meeting which was held at Laurel Oaks Country Club. "Celebrating the Arts" is a theme for many of the clubs activities that will occur throughout the organization's 11th. year. It was a lovely setting for members to reconnect after their busy summer months. Empty Bowls Event September 12, 2011 On September 12th, several UPWC members thoroughly enjoyed "Getting Their Hands Dirty" They spent the morning volunteering their time at the Art Center Manatee making soup bowls of pottery. Brian Brader was their instructor and taught them the basic skills needed to make the bowls. These soup bowls, along with many hundreds more, will be used at the annual "Empty Bowl" fund raising event. General Meeting & Luncheon at Founders Club 6/15/2011 Bye Bye (snow) Birdies & Board Members 5/13/2011 10th Anniversary Luncheon at Bird Key Yacht Club 4/13/2011 Well over 150 stylized women attended the University Park Women's Club 10th Anniversary General Meeting and luncheon at the Bird Key Yacht Club. Nine past presidents were present each wearing a beautiful corsage. Take me out to the ballgame 3/7/2011 A beautiful, star filled night was the setting for the University Park Women's Club members and guests attending the fabulous, brand new Ed Smith's stadium to watch the New York Yankees play the Baltimore Orioles. General Meeting and Fashion Show Luncheon 1/26/11 At the General Meeting and fashion show we presented a check to our two charities -- Children's Guardian Fund and The Food Bank of Manatee for a total amount of $20,000. Holiday Luncheon at The Concession 12/8/2010 December 8th the Women of UPWC gathered at The Concession for their annual Holiday Luncheon. The Concession served a beautiful meal and the Park Larks entertained with holiday songs. Cart loads of baby diapers and food were donated to The Food Bank of Manatee. Diamond and Crystal Charity Ball Saturday, December 4th the University Park Women's Club held its 6th Annual Diamond and Crystal Charity Ball, the theme this year being “Diamonds are Forever.” Put On Your Dancing Shoes Put on Your Dancing Shoes event welcomed 42 attendees. Everyone enjoyed libations and an excellent buffet prior to dance instruction by professionals Gregg and Suzanne. Gregg's captivating personality soon had all guests on their feet learning exciting dances of salsa and cha cha followed by the fox trot and traditional waltz.
