PRESIDENT'S LETTER - MAY, 2012

Our General Meeting and luncheon was held at Lakewood Ranch Country Club April 18th what a fun time we had! Raffle choices, social hour, delightful lunch and voting of the new Board of Directors for 2012-2013 year. After lunch, Angelia Wood introduced our special guest, Nate Jacobs, a founder of the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe. Mr. Jacobs gave an outstanding performance in acappella, as well as an interesting presentation about his early life and how the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe began in 1999 with six people. It was well done and very entertaining. We also welcomed Kristen Theisen of The Manatee Food Bank, our chosen charity, and presented a check to her for $5,000. This donation will be used for the April food drive and “Feed the Kids for $5” program. We have now donated a total of $21,000 to The Manatee Food Bank and we couldn’t have done it without all of our members and their generosity. Our slate of officers was presented followed by a request for nominations from the floor. There were no nominations from the floor and the membership voted to accept the slate of officers unanimously for the 2012-2013 year. We welcome our new officers and thank them for agreeing to serve. Our last social event of the season will be the 2nd annual “Bye-Bye (snow) Birdies” Pool Party at the Hampton Green pool on Friday, May 4th at 5:00 PM.
